Carmen Tereza moved to New York from the Dominican Republic to join her family living here. Prior to arriving in New York, she studied medicine and worked in physical rehabilitation. Carmen also developed a career as a teacher in a university, as she believes that health education is fundamental for the well-being of society. Carmen previously worked in a state-run maternal and infant health program at Wyckoff Hospital, where she counseled, advocated for, and assisted women to reach their health goals.

Carmen is grateful for the amazing opportunity with Grameen Promotoras to continue working in women’s health. She believes that “the best gift you can give yourself, your family, and your community is to decide to be healthy.
